Global and regional digital leader LG Electronics predicts mobile phones will overtake all other entertainment consumer electronics in the next three years as the pace of development in handset features becomes ever more rapid.
LG is the world's fourth most popular mobile phone brand. According to IDC reports, LG clocked sales of 11 million units in the first quarter of 2005 to capture 6.4 per cent market share worldwide. The company has witnessed a year-on-year growth of 26.9 per cent from 2004. LG sold 13.9 million units in the fourth quarter last year and posted a 55.3 per cent year-on-year increase and 17.8 per cent sequential increase.
While mobile phones are quickly becoming all-in-one convergence devices, they have also become fashion statements. To keep pace with trendy consumers, LG is creating its own styles with user-friendly designs closely related to today's mobile lifestyles. Breaking the boundaries of the traditional look, LG's creative design is redefining mobile style.

'LG's latest phones are personalised, customised and user-friendly mobiles and we want to ensure our phones represent fun and convenience.'
The world's first 3-D gaming phone, LG-SV360, is the first cell phone to be armed with a one million polygon/second graphic accelerator chip that processes data five times faster than currently available chips and allows users to play games with better resolution and more realistic 3-D graphics. The phone is also equipped with a tilt motion sensor that allows users to control the game by moving the unit around. The model also features a 2.2-inch LCD screen.
LG's terrestrial digital multimedia broadcast receiving mobile (DMB) phone, SB120, is the world's first TV phone. This mobile broadcasting phone provides crystal-clear video, CD-quality audio and satellite-transmitted data. Contrary to conventional satellite DMB models, users can receive video-on-the-move services on a 360-degree pull back monitor.
The 180-degree twister LG-LP5500 one is the world's slimmest five mega-pixel mobile phone. It is super-slim at just 18mm, and adopts the innovative twist and slim design that features a full-scale real digital camera. It incorporates an auto focus camera and a two-inch LCD screen, supporting VGA-level video at 30 fps (frame per second). More sophisticated functions such as the strobe flash, half-shutter, lens cover and 128MB of memory add strength to the phone's ability to replace stand alone digital cameras.
The LG-LP3900 is a slide phone that has a two-layer display and an upper monitor screen. Bluetooth technology makes cordless connections possible, from calling and answering calls to controlling MP3 functions. It supports an AV handset function with an equaliser and adopts multi-tasking functions for simultaneous enjoyment of games, SMS, video/photo shooting and wireless internet services while listening to MP3 music.
At first glance, LG-F9100 looks like a typical bar phone. However, the unit features a sliding QWERTY keyboard hidden inside which slides out when the top of the phone is rotated and pushed out half way. The model is compatible with AOL instant messenger, ICQ and Yahoo messenger.
Making a first for mobile handsets in the region, the LG M4410 has a striking sports car shape, and even makes car engine sounds when placing and receiving calls. Its advanced features also guarantee the phone performs just as well as it looks. It supports tri-band services - GSM/GPRS/EDGE - and it has a built-in MP3, 1.3 mega pixel camera, blue tooth coverage of 50 metres, external Mini SD card with 64MB, and a 1000-entry phone book.
